What is a goal?
Per the Wikipedia a goal is:
- A goal or objective is a projected state of affairs that a person or a system plans or intends to achieve—a personal or organizational desired end-point in some sort of assumed development.
Goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely (smart goals).
Specific
Your goals need to be specific. The more specific the better. That way you can measure them and know when you have reached them.
Measurable
If you cannot measure it how can you attain it. You will never know when or if you have attained your goal.
Attainable
Be sure your goal is attainable. You don’t want a goal that is impossible to reach. It should not be too easy but still attainable.
Realistic
Make your goals realistic. There is not reason why not to make your goals a stretch to reach but still be realistic.
Timely
The goals need to be timely for your business needs. They need to be important to you and your business.
Why is goal setting important?
If you don’t have smart goals, your goals are probably not important enough to you and your business. You need smart goals to work on achieving.
Gaols that you don’t feel are important to you and your business are a waste of time your time. Why work for goals you don’t believe in? Why work for goals you don’t think are important to your business.
Develop smart goals or don’t develop any at all.

No one can set your websites goals for you. Only you can determine the smart goals for your website. And there are no wrong goals as long as they are smart goals.
Just think about what is really important for your business and website. Then create the smart goals. And finally take action to attain your goals.
