Tips for Business Promotion with Your Blog

1. Use search engine friendly URL’s.  Make sure that the URL to each page reflects the title of the post or page.
2. Use keywords and keyword phrases in your titles and body of your articles, posts and pages.
3. Use a Ping service so that each time you make a post the directories are notified and the spiders and readers will find it.  WordPress has a ping service automatically set up.
4. If you have more than one blog be sure that they link back and forth together.
5. Leave comments on others blogs with a link back to your blog.
6. Submit your URL and RSS feeds to URL and RSS directories
7. Submit articles to article marketing sites with links back to your site
8. Above 3 through 6 are techniques to get back links (links from other sites back to your site) to increase traffic.

All of these tips are designed to increase the traffic to your site with little or no cost.  Without traffic the best blog is useless.  Promotion requires readers (traffic).

Step 1 – Domain Name

Start with a domain name.  This name should include your primary search term if possible.  You are also using this domain name for branding so also include your brand name if possible.  So take the time necessary to get a great domain name.  I recommend using Expert SRS as you domain registrar.

Step 2 – Web Hosting

You website needs a host to house your website.  Your hosting account should be reliable, with good support and a c-panel for ease of use.  There are hundreds of good web hosting companies out there.  Do your research before choosing one.  I recommend using Host Gator for your web hosting.

Step 3 – Web Site

You need a website that will allow you to easily create content.  Today one of the most popular types of websites is a wordpress blog.  I highly recommend you use a wordpress blog.  In the c-panel you can create a wordpress blog in about 2 minutes.  After it is created you are all set to add content, squeeze page and sales page.

Step 4 – Squeeze Page

A squeeze page is used to capture names and email addresses.  You need to give the reader a good reason to sign up but once they are signed up, you can email freely.  To capture these names and emails you need a squeeze page and an autoresponder account.  The autoresponder I recommend is Aweber.  It has excellent video tutorials and support.

Step 5 – Sales Page

If you are selling a product you will need to make a sales page.  The purpose of this page is to point out how your product will reduce/eliminate a problem the reader has.  Remember to point out the benefits of your product.

Step 6 – Traffic

Now that your web site is up and running, you have a squeeze page and a sales page and you have developed content, your next step is to drive traffic to your site.  Driving traffic is the job of SEO.  There are many techniques you can use to drive traffic.  However some of the easier and better ones are article marketing, commenting on other blogs and forums in your niche and submitting your blog to the directory sites.

Finally

This is where you start but it is an ever growing process.  Don’t think that because you have the best product and a web site that you will make sales.  You need traffic and buyers.  This takes time to develop.  Don’t loose hope in this process, keep learning and working on your site.

By indirect I mean share your expertise and experiences on the social media site. And then once a week or once every two week post a short ad for your product or services.

Social media is used to find a community and have that community visit your website to find out more about you. With you website offering information for all three stages of buying, you will convert these readers into buyers.

Remember social media is about social interactions. It is not about ads or spam.

There a quite a few RSS Directories on the Internet. These directories are a great place to do research for articles and ideas. Because they will have the RSS feed from the sites listed.

From our seo point of view these directories also offer links back to our site if we submit our RSS feed to them. So these directories can create back links to your site. As people find your RSS feed and become interested in what you have to say, they will visit your site for more information.

RSS Directory Listings

To find RSS directories just do a search for them in your favorite browser. Then choose a list of them to use.

Start to submit your RSS feed to these directories at a rate of a few a week. Don’t do it too fast or some of the search engines will not like it. So slow and steady is the best submission rate.
